The following takes place... in Fall

The powers that be have spoken.

Because they're making us wait until 2009 (2009!!) to catch the 7th season of 24, the people behind the show have decided to make a TV movie in the meantime - a two hour 24 'prequel.'

I hope it's gonna end up on DVD as soon as it airs and make its way to Thailand so I can watch it. Im thinking of revisting seasons 1 to 6 on DVD while I play the waiting game.

In the meantime...

I found a way to be in touch with my friends in the Philippines whenever they are online. The answer: get my emails automatically forwarded to my phone so I can read and reply to them anytime, anywhere. I just realized that my phone (a Motorola V6 Maxx) can synchronize with my mail server by itself every 15 minutes. (This does not include emails at work though- I don't want work-related emails to reach me when I am not in the office. Work life balance!) This means I would have to be online almost 24/7, but that's okay because GPRS/Edge access in Thailand is very cheap. I am charged only 100 baht for 900 minutes, and since the synchronization takes only around 15 seconds every 15 minutes, my 100 baht can last me a whole month (I had to do the math, Im a CPA). What an offa!

But wait. There's more.

Another way to be always online is to get a Blackberry phone, or any phone that supports an "always online" synch mode, like a Windows Mobile PDA or a Nokia E-series phone. This option's better because you'll receive emails on your phone as soon as they are sent, not just every 15 minutes. You would then have to subscribe to an unlimited GPRS/data plan which costs 850 baht monthly, still pretty cheap considering you'd have ulimited internet access. And since you are 'always online,' that means you can also be connected to Instant Messaging tools like Yahoo Messenger on your phone and never log off.

What an amazing offa!

Kidding aside, it's a very appealing solution and I may decide avail of this eventually, but as of now, the need is not too pressing.

Ah, the things you do when you are an OFW.
